Equipe launched in 1982 in San Marcellino, Caserta, from the curiosity of the Sapio family.
This lead to discovering the collections of Marithe et François Girbaud and Jean Paul Gaultier which gave way to a first approach to the Parisian fashion shows.
In Paris they were captivated by Kenzo, Comme des Graçon, Yojhi Yamamoto and Issey Miyake.
In the early 80s, the boutique welcomed the Japanese avant-garde, sharing their philosophy and tendency towards minimalism. Seduced by this imprint, research has embraced designers such as Prada, Helmut Lang, Romeo Gigli, Costume National, Carol Christian Poell and Sacai
By the end of the 80s the boutique hosted the most prestigious names of the fashion week, from the avant-garde to Alaïa, Thierry Mugler, Dolce and Gabbana and many others.
In the early 90s with the debut of the Belgian designer Dries Van Noten there was a first approach with the Antwerp 6, the subsequent discovery of Ann Demeulemeester deeply marked the poetic vision shared up to that moment, but the decisive role was played by Martin Margiela who with his collections represented the maximum expression of refined aesthetics.
In 1990 Equipe seeks expansion and the Caserta boutique is inaugurated in via Mazzini. In the new space, the garments have the opportunity to express themselves in a minimal but opulent environment using innovative architectural elements such as raw concrete and precious components like the red velvet curtains, a stage backdrop for the creations of the designers that the boutique welcomed. Visiting the flagship store in via Mazzini were not only fashion enthusiasts but also architects attentive to the contemplation of the environment. Equipe also opened its doors to artists with the opportunity to exhibit their work and set up exhibitions within the space. In 1997 Equipe closed its doors in Caserta while a new space was being built in San Marcellino. Avant-garde research continues with designers such as Rick Owens.
In 2010 the new boutique was inaugurated at 205 Corso Europa. Since the mid-2010s, attention has been paid to the new generation of creatives, proposing ideas of innovators such as Riccardo Tisci, Virgil Abloh and Matthew M. Williams.
Today with equipeboutique.com the boutique marks its presence throughout the world making the Equipe’s experience accessible all over the globe.
